SUMMARY:NORTH OREGON COAST SYMPHONY PRESENTS CONCERTS IN JUNE
DESCRIPTION:The North Oregon Coast Symphony concludes its 2023-2024 season with two concerts in June.  Titled “Poetic Palette”\, this series offers a variety of classical pieces from multiple composers.  Concerto for Clarinet\, Viola and Orchestra by Max Bruch features two soloists\, clarinetist Braden Payne (in his final performance with NOCS) and principal violist Betsey Ellerbroek. Other selections include  Offenbach’s Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld\, Rossini’s William Tell Overture\, Berlioz’s Hungarian March\, the symphonic poem In The Forest (Miske) by Ciurlionis\, and Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia. \nThe first concert will take place on Saturday\, June 8\, at St. Catherine Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101\, Nehalem\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nThe second concert will be on Sunday\, June 9\, at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (588 16th St.\, Astoria\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \n  \nAdmission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults\, ages 18 and under FREE (children 12 and under with adult supervision).   \nTickets will be available at the door only for the Nehalem concert. \nTickets for the Astoria concert will be sold online at LarsenCenter.org or by phone at 503 338 9132.  Cookies and refreshments will be available at both concerts during intermission\, and NOCS scholarships for graduating seniors will be announced. \nThis non-profit orchestra\, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson\, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform classical music for local audiences.  For more information\, please visit the the NOCS website nocsymphony.org.

Attended the Art Center School of Design in LA\, 1942. Museum Art School in Portland 46-51. Reed College ‘48-‘50. California School of Fine Arts in ‘49. James was a painter\, designer and art teacher his entire working life\, leaving behind more than 300 paintings\, many unframed. SUMMARY:Mud & Craft : Botanical Dye: Bundle Dyeing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Get an introduction to Bundle dyeing\, also known as eco printing. This botanical dye method involves laying out plant and flower material onto a piece of fabric\, rolling it up into a bundle and tying it up with string. Once the bundle is secured tightly with string\, it is steamed or submerged into hot water which transfers the colors from the plants to the fabric. Each participant will design and dye their own pre-mordanted 27×27 in towel. \n

DESCRIPTION:Get an introduction to Bundle dyeing\, also known as eco printing. This botanical dye method involves laying out plant and flower material onto a piece of fabric\, rolling it up into a bundle and tying it up with string. Once the bundle is secured tightly with string\, it is steamed or submerged into hot water which transfers the colors from the plants to the fabric. Each participant will design and dye their own pre-mordanted 27×27 in towel. \n

DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Yad Vashem\, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center &  the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education\, the Tillamook Air Museum presents the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest exhibit titled “Spots of Light: Women in the Holocaust.” Opening on Sunday\, April 28th\, and beginning at 1:00PM\, we are honored to feature Holocaust survivor Eva Aigner who will share her compelling first-hand account of survival and perseverance amid one of the darkest chapters of human history. Eva’s narrative serves as a poignant testament to the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Additionally\, Sue Johnson\, Eva’s daughter\, will recount the moving story of her father (Eva’s husband)\, Leslie Aigner\, and his experience as a survivor of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp\, providing a multi-generational perspective on the lasting impact of the Holocaust. At the conclusion of their program\, Eva & Sue will take questions and will help us to inaugurate our newest exhibit. \nThe grand opening and talk by Eva & Sue is FREE of charge to the public.
