DESCRIPTION:Third annual writers’ conference with presenters and workshops\, focused on a wide variety of genres. Pre conference writing contest with winners published in anthology. Local high school student contest winners receive money prizes. Open mics. \nNew  York Times columnist\, author and two time Pulitzer prize winner\, Nicholas Kristof will be delivering this year’s Keynote! Dozens of interactive workshops from local and regional writing professionals\, screenwriting poetry\, self publishing and much more. \nApril 25\, 26\, 27 Ticket price is $25 \nFriday April 25th\, Open Mic Performance at Tie Breaker\, doors open at 6 p.m. \nSaturday April 26th Keynote & workshops at Rockaway Community Church Event Space from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please note that we will not have the final schedule for all workshops until about two weeks prior to the event. There will be two large workshop spaces running concurrently\, we are doing our best to schedule them logically. We also may be using the Lion’s Club for a third space depending on demand. Bottom line is you will get a very big event for just $25!   Open Mic Performance at Tie Breaker doors open at 6:00 pm \nSunday April 27th\, Awards Breakfast and Networking at the Lion’s Club doors open at 9:00 am event ends at noon.

DESCRIPTION:The Family Birth Place at Adventist Health Tillamook offers a free\, nurse-led birthing class for Tillamook County mothers and fathers expecting a child in their future. The RSVP-required event will be held in Conference Room ABC on the 3rd floor of the medical center for 4 hours\, starting at 1 p.m. The class topics include true labor vs. false labor\, vaginal vs. C-section birth\, comfort issues for labor\, breastfeeding and bottle feeding and what to expect during your stay. \nPlease call 503-815-2289 to let the Family Birth Place staff know you’re interested in attending.

SUMMARY:Earth Day Service Celebration at Elk Meadows Park
DESCRIPTION:Get your hands in the dirt in celebration of Earth Day! We’ll be scotch broom busting all afternoon at Elk Meadows Park in Nehalem on Sunday\, April 27th. Join us in celebration of the 55th global day of action on behalf of our planet for a family friendly stewardship event. All ages are welcome! Tools & gloves will be provided (or welcome to bring your own) by co-hosts Lower Nehalem Community Trust and Trail Keepers of Oregon.\n\nPlease wear sturdy shoes and dress for variable coastal weather. Parking is adjacent to the park and surfaces are gravel\, wood chip and grass. This park is owned by the City of Manzanita and home to Elk\, roaming Cougar and other wildlife. It is stewarded by the Lower Nehalem Trust with the help of the community.\n\nDirections to Elk Meadows Park: Turn south off of Hwy. 101 onto Bayside Gardens Road. Take the last right turn onto Neptune Way. Park is at the end of Neptune Way on the Left
