SUMMARY:Tillamook Main Library Storytime: Preschool
DESCRIPTION:Preschool storytime (PS) on Wed @ 10; developmentally appropriate for 3-5 yos; music\, stories\, interactive play and lots of laughs! In this class little begin to learn about a leader at the front of the room\, how to hold their wiggles\, listening and sitting still. When a child is transitioning from TT to PS my expectation is that they will sit for 5-10 minutes and then they might go play. I do not force them to sit still if they are not ready to. \nA couple of things about the children’s room that might set you at ease: \n\nThere is no expectation that it will be a quiet zone; kids are kids and they are allowed to act like themselves in the children’s room.\nOnly 2 hard and fast rules: No Running & No Screaming.\nIf your child needs a snack\, feed them!

SUMMARY:Oregon Transfer Days at TBCC!
DESCRIPTION:Oregon Transfer Days is almost here! TBCC will be hosting OTD on February 1st from 10am until 1pm\, with special info sessions to follow. \nFor those of you who don’t know\, Oregon Transfer Days is an annual event in late January/early February where four-year colleges visit community colleges throughout Oregon to meet prospective students. These schools will provide information about their transfer programs and how to apply. This is a great resource for students who aren’t sure what they want to do next as well as students who have already decided they are transferring. This is also a chance for students who know exactly where they want to go to make their first contact at the school they’ve chosen. \nThis year\, nearly twenty four-year schools have signed up to attend TBCC’s event. These colleges have a wide variety of programs available in nearly all subject areas. \nThe schools expected to attend this year are: \n\nBushnell University\nEastern Oregon University\nGrand Canyon University\nLinfield University\nNational University of Natural Medicine\nNorthern Arizona University\nOregon Institute of Technology\nOregon State University\nPacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University\nPacific University\nPortland State University\nPrescott College\nRoseman University of Health Sciences College of Nursing\nUniversity of Oregon\nUniversity of Portland\nWestern Oregon University\nWillamette University\n\nAdditionally\, Pacific Northwest College of Art\, Oregon State University\, and Portland State’s Social Work program will hold individual info sessions!

SUMMARY:Volunteer STEAM Coach Training
DESCRIPTION:All returning and prospective volunteers are invited to attend our upcoming STEAM Coach Training. STEAM Coaches don’t need to be experts\, they just need to be passionate about helping students learn! \n  \n\nTuesday\, February 13th\n\n\nGaribaldi Boathouse (1209 Bay Lane\, Garibaldi)\n\n\n9am-Noon: Orientation\, Noon-2pm: Catered Lunch Social and Activity Demos\n\n\nRSVP Using This Link \n\n  \nThis training will include an orientation for new STEAM Coach Volunteers in the morning\, followed by an optional catered lunch social and hands-on demonstrations of upcoming field trip activities. For questions about this training or if you cannot attend but would like to learn about future opportunities\, please contact Rachel@tbnep.org \n  \nWhat is the TC STEAM Partnership? \nAcross the county\, a partnership of 20 local organizations works together to provide a variety of STEAM (science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, mathematics) programs to Tillamook County K-12 students. Together\, this partnership offers students numerous experiential education programs\, including environmental science field trips\, farm-to-table school gardens\, science fairs\, cultural programming\, research projects\, professional development\, and more. Each year\, thousands of Tillamook County students participate in these programs\, which are made possible by volunteer STEAM Coaches. In order to offer these community-enriching programs\, the TC STEAM Partnership needs volunteer STEAM Coaches to fulfill a variety of roles. STEAM Coaches are people who believe all students should be able to learn about STEAM subjects through educational experiences that are hands-on and inquiry-based.

SUMMARY:Exhibit Grand Opening: Spots of Light
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Yad Vashem\, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center &  the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education\, the Tillamook Air Museum presents the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest exhibit titled “Spots of Light: Women in the Holocaust.” Opening on Sunday\, April 28th\, and beginning at 1:00PM\, we are honored to feature Holocaust survivor Eva Aigner who will share her compelling first-hand account of survival and perseverance amid one of the darkest chapters of human history. Eva’s narrative serves as a poignant testament to the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Additionally\, Sue Johnson\, Eva’s daughter\, will recount the moving story of her father (Eva’s husband)\, Leslie Aigner\, and his experience as a survivor of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp\, providing a multi-generational perspective on the lasting impact of the Holocaust. At the conclusion of their program\, Eva & Sue will take questions and will help us to inaugurate our newest exhibit. \nThe grand opening and talk by Eva & Sue is FREE of charge to the public. For more information\, contact the Museum at 503-842-1130 or email us at Info@tilamookair.com
