This piece traces the life story of a “lighthearted melody named Bob\,” \nillustrating events like going to school\, playing sports\, and other \ndevelopmental experiences. The underlying message that “variety is the \nspice of life” will be demonstrated through a wide range of musical themes. \nThe narrator will be Deac Guidi\, a local professional opera singer who has \nperformed with NOCS and throughout the northwest region. \nAnother feature in the program will be Robert Smith’s Symphony No. 2\, “The \nOdyssey.” Inspired by the ancient Greek poet Homer’s epic tale\, this work \ntakes the audience on a dazzling musical voyage. \nMorton Gould’s rousing American Salute will round out this concert series. \nThe first concert will take place on Saturday\, March 15\, at the Nehalem \nElementary School Gym (36300 8th St.\, Nehalem\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nThe second concert will be on Sunday\, March 16\, at the Bob Chisholm \nCommunity Center (1225 Avenue A\, Seaside\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nAdmission for both concerts will be $10. DESCRIPTION:The North Oregon Coast Symphony\, Tillamook County Library\, and Astoria Public Library have partnered to bring live music and hands-on instrument experiences to local preschool children through stories. The first events will be Monday\, December 2nd at 10 AM at the Manzanita Library\, and Tuesday\, December 3rd at 10 AM at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts. Through an enchanting read-aloud text and beautiful artwork\, a thrilling and fantastical story of a farmer\, a gentle old lady\, a dancing dog\, and one brave\, tiny duckling will warm the heart. NOCS musicians Samantha Kushnick (cello) and Shannon Steele (violin) will accompany the reading of the story. Children will learn more about stringed instruments as the musicians provide demonstrations. Child-sized instruments will be available to examine and play after the story. \n\n\nThis event is free and open to children aged 3-5 and their adults.  North Oregon Coast Symphony\, a non-profit orchestra\, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform classical music for local audiences. SUMMARY:SYMPHONY PRESENTS CONCERTS IN NOVEMBER
DESCRIPTION:The North Oregon Coast Symphony will begin its 2024-2025 season with two concerts in November.  Titled “Grand Openings\,” this series offers several classical pieces that were originally intended as preludes to larger works such as operas\, including Dvorak’s Hussite Overture\, Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) Overture\, and Poet and Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppé. In another grand opening\, Dylan Morrow\, a senior at Astoria High School this year\, will be the soloist for the first movement of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto\, Op. 85. \nThe first concert will take place on Saturday\, November 9\, at St. Catherine Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101\, Nehalem\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nThe second concert will be on Sunday\, November 10\, at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (588 16th St.\, Astoria\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \n  \nAdmission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults\, ages 18 and under FREE (children 12 and under with adult supervision).   \nTickets will be available at the door only for the Nehalem concert. \nTickets for the Astoria concert will be sold online at charlenelarsencenter.org or by phone at 503 338 9132.  Cookies and refreshments will be available at both concerts during intermission. \nThis non-profit orchestra\, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson\, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform classical music for local audiences.  For more information\, please visit the the NOCS website nocsymphony.org.

The last few years she has been working with kiln fused glass art: Taking layers of glass\nand forming it into sculptures in multiple kiln firings varying the temperature for different\neffects giving the glass a dimensional look. The theme of the glass sculptures leans\ntoward the beauty of the Oregon Coast. Live music performed by Brandon Lucas and refreshments served!

Explore the full 2024 series at this link. \nWith its winding trails through rolling dunes to the Pacific Ocean\, Lesley Miller Dunes Meadow Park in Gearhart\, Oregon is the site for this mini series of coastal concerts on August 30 and 31. The piano will be situated on the grass at the west end of the park. Concert check-in opens at 4:00 pm\, and the performance begins at 5:00 pm.

SUMMARY:Summer Music Series: Phoenix
DESCRIPTION:Phoenix to perform in the 2024 Summer Music Series at the Maxwell Park Library Stage at the Tillamook Main Library on Friday\, August 30th at noon. \nThe American folk pop duo Phoenix consists of award-winning songwriters Tim and Kathy Crosby – who have been performing together for well over 2 decades.  Together they have collaborated on several CD’s and are known far and wide for their songwriting abilities and entertainment style. \nTim and Kathy have performed together from Las Vegas to Nashville\, in venues large and small.  Being compared to the likes of Willie Nelson\, Gillian Welch\, and David Rawlings\, Mary Travers\, and June Carter Cash – Phoenix rises in the joy of a sound that highlights the multi-instrumental talents of both musicians while focusing on a variety of vocal styles and abilities. \nKnown as the “talent” of the duo as he is proficient on any instrument with strings\, Tim Crosby spends his days teaching a variety of students the joy of playing a musical instrument.  His private classes take place in both Salem and Corvallis Oregon. \nThe “personality” of the couple is Kathy Crosby\, who not only manages Phoenix\, but spends her days teaching piano lessons in the Salem\, Oregon area.  In addition to this she is a GrammyU Mentor\, writer\, public speaker\, consultant\, and musical advocate.  Currently she serves as the President of the Oregon Festival and Events Association. \nIn their current configuration\, Phoenix has released two full-length albums\, Rise and Viewpoint\, along with the single Calamity Blues.  Their music has not only won numerous awards\, but has been featured on several specialty shows\, including BWH’s “Her Voice\, The Indie Radio Network\, Indie Top Chart\, and Women of Substance Radio (WOS) “Music with a Conscience”
