Join us in celebration of the 55th global day of action on behalf of our planet for a family friendly stewardship event. All ages are welcome! Tools & gloves will be provided (or welcome to bring your own) by co-hosts Lower Nehalem Community Trust and Trail Keepers of Oregon.\n\nPlease wear sturdy shoes and dress for variable coastal weather. Parking is adjacent to the park and surfaces are gravel\, wood chip and grass. This park is owned by the City of Manzanita and home to Elk\, roaming Cougar and other wildlife. DESCRIPTION:The annual Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting Event starts at 5:45PM on Friday November 29\, 2024.  The event is located in the Rockaway Beach Wayside off Hwy 101 & South 1st Avenue.  Santa arrives on the train at 6PM and will offer visits and photo opportunities in the Big Red Tent.  You can write letters to Santa\, enjoy free cookies & hot cocoa\, and hang your homemade ornaments on the tree.  Enjoy Holiday Music while waiting for the Tree Lighting at 6:30PM\, followed by Christmas caroling lead by our own “Salty Strings” Ukulele group.  Don’t forget to bring canned food for the North County Food Bank.   This event is put on by the City of Rockaway Beach and The Rockaway Beach Business Association.

DESCRIPTION:CAPE LOOKOUT STEWARDSHIP DAY – SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 27th \nCape Lookout Stewardship Day offers opportunities to give back and work to maintain our natural areas and restore healthy coastal landscapes. \nJoin Friends Of Netarts Bay-WEBS and lend a hand clearing weeds and invasive ivy from recent plantings established at Cape Lookout State Park. \nDuring last winter\, WEBS volunteers helped OR State Parks staff plant a large variety of native trees\, shrubs\, and plants. Throughout this spring and summer\, volunteers and staff members have continued their stewardship at Cape Lookout.  \nFor this event\, park staff along with WEBS volunteers\, will be on hand to supervise participants who will be clearing around the established winter plantings\, removing unwanted plants that may slow their growth and in addition\, do some ivy removal around the park.   “Our goal is aimed at improving and restoring the habitat within the park”\, says WEBS director Chrissy Smith.  \nIf possible\, we ask participants to provide their own: \n\nwork gloves\nhand pruners\nshovels\nappropriate gear for Oregon Coast in September\nIt is also recommended that participants bring a reusable water bottle\, and snacks.\n\nGet more information and find a link to register on our website at: \nhttps://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events \nConsider donating:   \nYour donation helps in supporting the work of our organization. DESCRIPTION:Netarts Bay Beach and Bayside Cleanup with SOLVE and Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS  \nSaturday\, September 21st\, 2024  \nJoin SOLVE\, Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS (www.netartsbaywebs.org)\, Oceanside Surf Co./Current Cafe\, Netarts Oceanside Fire\, and other Tillamook County partners to clean up the areas around Netarts and Oceanside on Saturday\, September 21st\, from 10 AM – 1 PM.  \nFriends of Netarts Bay WEBS members and their partners have been working with SOLVE to host cleanups in the area from Cape Lookout to Cape Meares to Bay Ocean for over a decade.  \nJoin them this year and help protect marine life and maintain the beauty of our coast. This beach cleanup is family-friendly\, dog-friendly\, and volunteers of all ages will find the event fun and rewarding.  \nRemember\, ocean shores can be dangerous. Avoid logs in the water. Keep your distance from marine mammals\, and never turn your back on the ocean! If you find any hazardous material\, please alert the Beach Cleanup Captain. And remember\, it’s more fun to work as part of a team. Bring a buddy\, stay safe\, and have fun!  \nAdvanced registration saves time but is not required. DESCRIPTION:This is a two and a half hour guided sightseeing and birdwatching boat tour departing from Garibaldi\, heading for 3 Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge in the waters off Oceanside. \nJoin Garibaldi Charters and experienced guide Tim Shelmerdine of Oregon Pelagic Tours\, and enjoy an educational trip aboard the 43′ vessel Alaska Sunrise.  On the trip down to the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge you will experience the breathtaking views of the coast from the other side of the beach! Keep a sharp eye out for harbor seals\, sea lions\, bald eagles\, puffins\, murres\, cormorants\, gulls and the other abundant seashore wildlife native to the north coast. Be sure to bring a camera and binoculars\, and warm waterproof clothes if you have them\, as afternoons on the water can be breezy.  Life jackets are provided.  Cost is $75/adult and $60/child.  Book online at https://garibaldicharters.com or call to reserve 503-322-0007.  This trip will run rain or shine\, but is “conditions dependent” and may be cancelled for rough ocean conditions.  A full refund will be provided if trip is cancelled for rough conditions.  It is not recommended for anyone with balance or mobility issues.
