DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Yad Vashem\, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center &  the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education\, the Tillamook Air Museum presents the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest exhibit titled “Spots of Light: Women in the Holocaust.” Opening on Sunday\, April 28th\, and beginning at 1:00PM\, we are honored to feature Holocaust survivor Eva Aigner who will share her compelling first-hand account of survival and perseverance amid one of the darkest chapters of human history. Eva’s narrative serves as a poignant testament to the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Additionally\, Sue Johnson\, Eva’s daughter\, will recount the moving story of her father (Eva’s husband)\, Leslie Aigner\, and his experience as a survivor of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp\, providing a multi-generational perspective on the lasting impact of the Holocaust. At the conclusion of their program\, Eva & Sue will take questions and will help us to inaugurate our newest exhibit. \nThe grand opening and talk by Eva & Sue is FREE of charge to the public. DESCRIPTION:Get your FREE tickets for Museum Day 2023! This will be the museum’s 5th year participating in Museum Day\, this is an all day FREE entry with proof of the Museum Day ticket. Click the link below to get your FREE tickets today! \nSpecial guest presenter Dan Petkunas an F-4 pilot and Weapons Officer\, will present on his 222 combat missions in Vietnam\, culminating in the Christmas Bombings of 1972.  \nIf fighter pilots and crew members have nine lives\, Dan Petkunas expended at least seven of them during his combat tour. \nIn 1972\, Dan was assigned to the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Udorn Royal Thai Air Base in Thailand and began flying bombing runs and missions to protect other aircraft\, including B-52 bombers\, A-7s\, F-105s\, and additional F-4s. As a Weapons System Officer\, Petkunas controlled the F-4’s back seat\, working in tandem with the pilot. \nDan came back from his tour of duty with the Distinguished Flying Cross\, other medals and devices\, join Dan and hear about the air war in Vietnam during its final year.

SUMMARY:B-52G Cockpit Exhibit Opening
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday April 1st from 11:00am-12:30 at the Tillamook Air Museum for the Ribbon Cutting\, Christening & open cockpit of the Tillamook Air Museum’s newest exhibit\, a B-52G Stratofortress cockpit! A Veteran of the Cold War\, Vietnam War\, and Gulf War\, this bomber served America with pride for over 30 years! Our special guest for the event is Sherry Lowe. In 1964\, Sherry was bestowed the title of “Miss Bangor” (Maine). As a part of her crown\, Sherry was tasked with Christening a B-52 Stratofortress at Dow Air Force Base in Maine\, the “City of Bangor.” Coincidentally\, this is the same B-52 that the Museum has been working hard to restore this past year. Now 59 years later\, Sherry is joining us at the Museum to “re-Christen” her airplane\, “Osiris” (the name given the aircraft during the Gulf War era). Come on out and join in on  the fun\, climb through our B-52 Stratofortress cockpit\, get your picture taken inside\, and talk to Veterans who served aboard this magnificent aircraft!
